Burglar who targeted homes in Leyland jailed

A burglar who targeted homes in Leyland and threatened to torch a man’s car has been jailed.

Connor Murray was acting suspiciously, going around the back of a property on Hall Lane at around 1pm on 19th December 2024.

When disturbed by a member of the public, he threatened to damage his property,

Twenty minutes later, Murray targeted a house on Westfield Drive, smashing a window of the conservatory and trying to prize the door open. Again, he was disturbed by a passer-by and left the property empty handed.

Following multiple enquiries by the South Residential Burglary Team, Murray was arrested in January and charged with burglary in a dwelling and threats to damage property.

On Friday 21st November 2025, Murray, 25, of no fixed address appeared at Preston Crown Court where he was found guilty of the charges and was jailed for three years and five months.

Operation Defender is a force-wide campaign that aims to combat residential burglary with support from Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.
