Two men jailed after assaulting man and stealing his bank cards and phone in Burnley

Two men have been jailed after assaulting a man and stealing his bank cards and phone in Burnley.

Charlie Lord, 31, of no fixed address and Anthony Waddington, 40, of no fixed address have been jailed after assaulting a man and stealing his belongings from him in Burnley back in April 2025.

At around 5:15am on Friday 4th April, Lord and Waddington approached a man not known to them on Church Street, Burnley, at the car park entrance of Home Bargains.

They began assaulting him by punching and kicking him, stamping on his head, and bashing it against a gate.

They threatened him and stole his bank cards and phone, following which he was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries to his head and face.

The pair appeared at Preston Crown Court for a sentencing after they both pleaded guilty to robbery.

Waddington was jailed for four years and nine months, and Lord was jailed for four years and one month.

DC Charla Devereux of Burnley CID said: “I am pleased Waddington and Lord have been held accountable for their unprovoked attack and robbery of an innocent man.

“They carried out a violent and prolonged attack, and then went on to steal two of his bank cards and mobile phone.

"Waddington and Lord’s offending is of serious concern, and I hope the custodial sentence he received offers the victim some form of closure.”
