With the colder temperatures just around the corner, Blackburn with Darwen Council want to get you involved in naming their two brand new orange gritters.
On Monday 28 October, it will be time to grit the borough once more in anticipation of ice, sleet and snow.
Their team of gritters travel up and down 165 miles of road in the borough, salting and snow clearing to keep traffic moving during the cold weather, and ensure you can get from A to B.
They have two new gritters for this year’s season, which just so happen to be bright orange. Unfortunately, they don’t yet have names, so they need your help in giving each of them a name.
The names will be placed on the gritters, so that when you see them out and about in the borough, you can keep an eye on them while they’re at their work.
If you have suggestions for the names of our gritters, please send them to: highways@blackburn.gov.uk with the subject line: GRITTER NAMING COMPETITION.
The competition closes on Wednesday 16 October.
The Mayor will choose the two winning names.
