A man has been jailed for driving his van dangerously through East Lancashire.
On 14th September 2024, police officers signalled for a Mercedes Sprinter Van driving through Rossendale to stop.
The van subsequently failed to stop, driving dangerously before being unable to negotiate a narrow bridge in Ramsbottom.
Following a short foot chase the driver, Thomas Howard, was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, disqualified driving, drug driving and no insurance.
At Blackburn Magistrates Court, Howard, 32 of Chapel Street, Brierfield was sentenced to 32 weeks in prison and disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for three years and 112 days.
Rossendale Neighbourhood Inspector Matt Plummer said: “Howard drove dangerously including overtaking and driving on the wrong side of the road.
“I am pleased he has been given a custodial sentence and been made accountable for his dangerous actions.
“This outcome should be an important reminder of the serious consequences of dangerous driving, and the impact it can have on our communities.”
