Police are appealing for information and footage after a pedestrian was left seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Nelson.
At about 2.15pm on Saturday, officers were called to reports a Ford Kuga had collided with a pedestrian on Cross Street where it meets Market Square.
The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, suffered multiple serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the Kuga, a 41-year-old woman from Nelson, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. She has since been released under investigation whilst our enquiries continue.
Sgt Laura Kendall, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has suffered some very serious injuries as a result of this collision and my thoughts are with him and his loved ones at this time.
“Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and I would ask any witnesses we have not already spoken to or anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage which could assist our enquiries to make contact with the police as soon as possible.”
