A woman has died after falling from a bridge over the M6 near Preston.
The northbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours yesterday (April 23), following the incident between J32 for the Broughton Interchange and J33 for Lancaster south.
Police were called at 3.25pm to a report of a woman falling from a bridge at Barnacre.
Emergency services attended and a 50-year-old woman was found on the carriageway.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
No vehicle was involved in the incident.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed in due course to HM Coroner.
Anyone who witnessed the fall or have dashcam footage from the area, are asked to contact police.
