A former Lancashire primary school teacher has been banned from the profession after being jailed for offences involving indecent images of children.
William Chambers, 61, who taught in Blackburn and Burnley between 1998 and 2022, was sentenced to 20 months in prison last year after admitting three counts of making indecent photographs of children. An investigation by the National Crime Agency found more than 1,500 images on his devices, supplied via the dark web.
The Teaching Regulation Agency has now prohibited him from teaching indefinitely, citing his lack of remorse and breach of trust. Chambers is also on the Sex Offenders Register and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
He cannot apply to return to teaching and has 28 days to appeal the decision.
