Fylde Council has approved the introduction of two fully electric vehicles to its operational fleet.
Following a competitive procurement process, the contract for supplying the vehicles has been awarded to Nissan at a value of £47,102.50. To support the operation of these new vehicles, two electric vehicle charging points have already been installed at a designated area to the rear of the Town Hall at a cost of £3,350.
Councillor Michelle Morris, Lead Member for Customer and Operational Services, said: “This investment demonstrates our practical commitment to addressing climate change while maintaining quality service delivery. By transitioning our fleet to more environmentally friendly alternatives, we’re making meaningful progress toward our carbon reduction goals, aligning with our corporate commitment to creating a cleaner, greener environment for our residents.”
The total cost of the project, including vehicles and charging infrastructure, amounts to £50,452.50, with £34,000 funded through the Capital Project for Carbon Neutral Vehicles, and the remaining coming from the existing Capital Fleet Replacement Programme.
