Blackpool is celebrating Love Parks Week with a series of free, family-friendly events across six local parks.
Activities include tennis, superhero days, cricket tasters, and family fun sessions, running until August 1.
This year, events are being held in six local parks, offering a variety of fun and engaging activities for all ages:
· Anchorsholme Park: Free Park Tennis session on Saturday 26 July, 10:00 to 11:00am
· Stanley Park: Daily activities from Monday 28 July to Friday 1 August, 10:00am to 2:00pm (Monday - Thursday), including superhero themed activities, a local heroes day, varied sessions for children and families, a cricket taster session and more
· Kingscote Park: A series of ward-funded sessions throughout summer, featuring activities led by Blackpool Park Rangers and Active Blackpool, every Monday
· Layton Recreation Ground: Family Fun Event hosted by the Friends of Layton on Wednesday 30 August, 10.00am to 2.00pm
· Moor Park: Family Fun Day with market stalls, children’s activities, and bike coding, hosted by the Friends of Moor Park on Friday 1 August, 10:00am to 2:00pm
· Crossland Road Park: Activities for children and families delivered by Blackpool Park Rangers, plus an opportunity to meet the Friends of Crossland Road Park to learn about their work and how you can join, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
In addition to the exciting events planned, four of the parks involved - Anchorsholme Park, Stanley Park, Kingscote Park, and Crossland Road Park - have recently been awarded the prestigious Keep Britain Tidy Green Flag Award, recognising them as some of the best-managed green spaces in the country.
Councillor Jane Hugo, Blackpool Council Deputy Leader (Place) and Cabinet Member for Climate Change, said: "Blackpool has a lower amount of green space in comparison to national averages, which makes the spaces we do have even more special.
“I am extremely proud of all the work to improve and increase our green spaces and am thrilled to see seven of our parks recognised with Green Flag Awards this year.
“Thanks to our wonderful volunteers and dedicated teams that have worked extremely hard to make this happen. This shows the pride and care that goes into making our parks the very best they can be.
“Many of these spaces also offer a fantastic range of activities and events for all ages, and with Love Parks Week underway, there’s no better time to get out and enjoy everything they have to offer."
