A shoplifter from Chorley has been jailed for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) preventing him from entering shops in the town.
Lancashire Police were called to Asda Express on Moor Road on Tuesday 6th May 2025 following reports that large amounts of cooked meats and blocks of cheese worth around £80 had been stolen.
Adam Larkin, 37, of Lyons Lane, Chorley was arrested shortly after and charged with theft from a shop and breach of a CBO.
On Thursday 8th May, he appeared before Preston Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 8 months in prison.
In November 2023, Larkin was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order which prevents him from entering any Asda, Aldi or Co-Op store in Lancashire for three years.
Sgt Paul Harrison from Chorley’s Neighbourhood Policing team said: "Shoplifting has a significant impact on local businesses and the communities they serve. It is not a victimless crime.
"Through Operation Vulture, we will continue to work alongside our partners to ensure that shoplifters are brought before the courts and held accountable for their actions."
