Structural surveys of the decking of all three of Blackpool’s piers have now been completed following an incident last month when a woman fell around 30 feet from Central Pier.
The surveys have been carried out by the Blackpool Pier Company Ltd and reports are being provided to Blackpool Council. The council added a health and safety investigation into the incident on August 6 was continuing.
Central Pier was initially closed after the incident but re-opened on Friday, August 9. North and South piers continued to operate as normal.
The woman received initial treatment for her injuries before being extricated and taken to hospital. Stephen Taylor, a friend of the woman, has publicly revealed the woman was treated for spinal injuries and a broken elbow.
